Caseworker – Michigan
Overview: The Office of Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin is seeking experienced, dedicated, community-centered professionals to serve as constituent service caseworkers in her Michigan office. Caseworkers will serve on the Constituent Services team, and will report to the Constituent Services Director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Casework Management: Caseworkers handle broad casework portfolios, related to the direct requests and needs of the constituents of the state. The role requires frequent communication, both written and verbal, a high attention to detail, and a problem-solving attitude.
- Engagement with federal agencies: To support constituent requests, caseworkers liaise daily with federal, district, and local agencies. The role requires active, positive, and persistent communication – and knowledge of programs and missions of various federal agencies.
- Internal communication: Caseworkers are expected to regularly provide the Senator-elect and senior members of the senate team updates on issues within their area of responsibility. Caseworkers may actively participate in cross-team efforts that impact their area of responsibility, including but not limited to correspondence and other special requests. Caseworkers may be asked to analyze their casework portfolio for areas that may be aided by legislative action.
Candidate qualifications:
- Background in advocacy or community work.
- Problem solving attitude.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills, and experience working in a role where they interact with the public.
- Ability to produce high quality work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
- High attention to detail and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in fulfillment of casework responsibilities;
Location and work environment: This position is located in the state of Michigan. This is a “hybrid position” – applicants should expect that the role will require some in-person office work, with flexibility for some regular remote work.
