Creative Director – Washington D.C.
Position overview:
The Office of Senator Elissa Slotkin is looking for a Creative Director to oversee the Senator’s social media platforms, drive online communications, and create strategic digital plans. This position operates as utility player within the Communications team to develop digital communication strategies and multichannel tactics to share the Senator’s message and vision to Michiganders and Americans online. This includes editing videos, photos and graphics.
This position reports directly to the Communications Director and collaborates with the full team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee, organize, and manage the day-to-day social media calendar.
- Sync with the full communications team to ensure digital a foundational piece of the broader communications strategy
- Directing, producing, and editing videos that align with the Senator’s vision and priorities
- Staff, film, and travel with the Senator to events throughout Michigan and Washington, D.C. as necessary.
- Working with influencers and building out digital partnerships to expand the Senator’s digital audience.
- Assisting in all rapid response efforts, preparing for breaking news, and managing the creative projects that will lead the Senator’s response.
Qualifications:
- Strong video editing and graphic design experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
- The ability to be flexible and move priorities and projects with the political news landscape
- Experience managing an organization or public figure’s voice
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with creative content development for social media, or similar background (e.g. in video editing, graphic design, photography, etc.).
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment.
- Ability to manage crises and adapt quickly.
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a desire to learn new tools and technologies.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $75,000-$100,000 with standard U.S. Government employee benefits.
