Scheduler – Washington D.C. and Michigan
Overview: The Office of Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin is seeking experienced, dedicated, high-performing professionals to serve as schedulers in both her Washington D.C. and Michigan offices. The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the Senator-elect’s complex and demanding schedule across a wide variety of engagements in Washington, D.C. and in Michigan. The Scheduler will report to the Director of Scheduling.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Scheduling: The Scheduler will play a vital role in managing the daily operations and time management of Senator-elect Slotkin. This involves prioritizing and organizing all requests for the Senator-elect’s time, often balancing the needs of staff, legislative duties, constituent services, and external stakeholders. The Scheduler will work closely with the Chief of Staff and other senior staff to ensure that the Senator-elect’s schedule aligns with her priorities. The Scheduler must be adept at managing last-minute changes and conflicts, making adjustments while minimizing disruptions.
- Member operations: The Scheduler is responsible for a wide variety of tasks to support Member operations, including logistics related to travel and transportation. The position will at times include direct staffing and travel with the Senator-elect.
- Briefing preparation: The Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring that the Senator-elect is fully prepared for each meeting and event by coordinating with Senate staff to provide relevant briefing materials and background information.
- Member stafing: The Scheduler will routinely staff the Senator-elect, to include accomanying her in meetings or events. This component of the role may require occasional local or state travel.

- Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as the Scheduler often acts as the Senator-elect’s direct representative, handling communications with high-level officials, constituents, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders seeking time.
- Organizational excellence, multitasking, and problem-solving skills are critical, as is an understanding of the legislative process and the demands of the Senate.
- The ideal candidate will possess professionalism, discretion, and a proactive approach to managing the Senator-elect’s time efficiently and effectively.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality, work under pressure, and anticipate needs are key to succeeding in this fast-paced and high-stakes environment.
- This is an entry level position.
Location and work environment: The Office of Senator-elect Slotkin is hiring for this role in both Washington D.C. and in the state of Michigan. The position will at times include direct staffing and travel with the Senator-elect, and requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
